Sleep DOES Matter!

Why is sleep so important?
Sleepy babies are usually cranky, clumsy and difficult to be around. Kinda like adults!

Also, on any given day, your pre-schooler loses about 7 IQ points for every ½ hour of lost sleep.
Since these are their learning years, let's fix that shall we?

Our story...

25 years ago we had a baby who wouldn't sleep. As new parents, we didn't know what to do, so we simply asked every parent and grand-parent who came into our doll stores: "have you ever...?"

Here are the results. Twenty-five years of parent to parent advice on children's sleep issues.
Simple, practical, sleep solutions that work!

Baby Sleeping on a sheepskinA reputation for putting kids to sleep?
Well, for Addie and I and the staff at SleepySoft.com, it is our pleasure, and our joy to help you get your children and baby to sleep. Whether it's a sheepskin rug, a belly warmer for baby colic or other baby sleep problems; or cloth dolls for children to attach to and set up a baby sleep pattern, we are all about getting baby to sleep!
A Sleep Sheep White Noise machine

Here's how we create rested, relaxed and happy families:

  • Relax your child: - Your child is using her waking hours to explore the world. It's our job as parents to help her learn when to stop exploring, and take time to rest and recover from all that stimulation. So we're going to create a nice, warm, familiar and cuddly environment for sleeping with: Sheepskin Rugs, Cozies & Bed Warmers.

  • Create Baby Sleep Patterns - Once you get past those first few weeks, we want to establish a schedule and "here's how you know it's sleep-time" patterns. So we're going to create patterns: that's where the Sound Machines and Lullaby CD's come in: repeatable - soothing - patterns.

  • Create Sleep Associations - Using your new baby sleep aids regularly and consistently every day. Your new sheepskin rug for example... Once they start sleeping on the sheepskin, your children will come to associate the sheepskin rug with 'sleep.'

  • Security and Attachment - As your infant becomes a toddler his world changes. He's all set to go explore, but... he'd like a little security or comfort from his 'old' world. Hence the 'security blanket,' Teddy Bears, Soft Cloth Dolls, Loveys or Blankey.
  • Dolls for all ages - Infants, toddlers and children

You're lucky if your local toy stores carry any Asian baby dolls, Hispanic baby dolls, or even a half decent selection of African American baby dolls.
And even if they do, it's rare that they carry a broad enough selection to cover all ages from Newborns to Toddlers.
That is why we created SleepySoft.com; to offer the families of newly adopted children Asian Dolls, Hispanic dolls and African American dolls for your baby!
Now they can have a doll with a "face just like theirs!"
Whether it's an African American doll to nurture, a soft and cuddly Chinese doll to love, or an every day companion to play with; dolls are always a perfect gift.

How to choose your child's doll

Little Hailey Soft bodied African American Baby DollThe last time you had to choose a baby doll, you were probably five years old walking the aisles of the toy store yourself! And "Doll Selection 101" is not taught in any schools! Here are a few friendly hints to get you started:

  • 0 to 12 months: Stuffed toys...soft and cuddly, safe and suitable...Bright colors, soft textures...maybe even machine washable. Look at our Asian Lovey baby dolls, (also available in Hispanic dolls, and African American dolls) or the Baby Bottoms™ stuffed baby doll toys. Generally smaller and light weight. You'll also enjoy browsing thru our specialty infant dolls, like the crib safe rag doll loveys, or the boy cloth dolls.

  • 12 months to 36 months: Think more realistic and lifelike baby dolls. You still want soft, but these dolls may become "permanent' companion dolls, so they need to be light weight for a toddler to carry. As your child grows, her doll can get a little bigger and heavier. Also around age two, you might consider a Potty Training doll.

  • 3 to 5 year olds: Companion and teaching dolls are perfect for your toddler now! Not quite ready for the dress up dolls, she'll still enjoy 'Learn to Dress' dolls, and dolls with hair that can be styled. Easy dress-up dolls like the Tiny Babys doll or the Style Me Pretty 'African-Americn doll with hair. Also at this age character dolls like the Sesame Street toys, or Fraggle Rock dolls are great role models and encourage mind-expanding make-believe play.

  • Ages 5 and up By now most of your children will have "graduated" away from baby dolls and into dress up dolls and Fashion Dolls. This is the age where we stop, and refer you to American Girl, Barbie and the Collectible Doll vendors!
  • How big is your doll?

    How big is your doll?
    Savannah is 19"
    Johnny is 12"
    and Celia is 9"
All Dolls look the same size on the internet! So what size is your doll? We put the sizes on the descriptions and features pages for each doll.
